Niedersachsen-Technikum (Lower Saxony Technical Centre) 2024

For many schoolgirls, a very important phase in their lives is about to begin: The decision "What do I do after school?" is imminent. There are numerous options and offers - and this is often precisely the problem. At the same time, career choices are still burdened with entrenched gender roles and the associated stereotypes. In 2019, the proportion of women among first-semester students in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) was still low at 34 percent.

Clausthal University of Technology participates in the Lower Saxony Technical Centre to give young women interested in science and technology an insight into everyday working life and STEM studies. This established state programme offers schoolgirls orientation for the world of work. The programme is open to all (technical) high school graduates who are still undecided about their career choices. Over a period of six months, the students can carry out a project in a company four days a week and get a taste of university life one day a week. This time can also count towards the compulsory internship for technical degree programmes at Clausthal University of Technology. There is also the opportunity to take examinations for the courses attended and collect your first credit points. There is enough time to get an idea of studying in Clausthal and to familiarise yourself with the advantages of personal support from the teaching staff.
