The National Conference of Equal Opportunity Officers at Universities and Academic Institutions in Lower Saxony (lakog niedersachsen) has existed since 1992 (before 2019: The National Conference of Lower Saxonian Women’s Representatives (LNHF)) and has been actively committed to equal opportunity for more than 25 years.

In 2019, the organization of the “National Conference of Women’s Representatives in Lower Saxony” (LNHF) changed its name to “National Conference of Equal Opportunity Officers at Universities and Academic Institutions in Lower Saxony” (lakog niedersachsen).

The lakog niedersachsen is committed to improve gender equality in research, teaching, studies, and higher education organizations. In line with this, the lakog actively shapes current discussions on higher education politics and programs, and runs its own projects. The objective of the lakog is to establish equal opportunity politics as a criterion of quality assurance in higher education planning and higher education development.

In accordance with §2 NHG, all universities and academic institutions in Lower Saxony are members of the National Conference of Equal Opportunity Officers at Universities and Academic Institutions in Lower Saxony. Their representatives are the Equal Opportunity Officers.
