In accordance with §42 of the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (NHG, Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz) and §25 of the Statute of Clausthal University of Technology, equal opportunity officers are appointed by the Commission for Equal Opportunity and elected by the Senate.

The equal opportunity officer is appointed for a six-year period after the first election, and for an eight-year period after re-election. With the approval of the Senate, the appointment for another term respectively is permitted without tender and by way of derogation from sentence 1. The equal opportunity officer is to be employed full-time. An equal opportunity office managed by her is available to support the fulfillment of her tasks.

In accordance with §42 subpara. 5 of the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (NHG, Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz) and §25 subpara. 2 of the Statute of Clausthal University of Technology, female members of the faculties, the central operating units, the general university administration and the research centers can be elected part-time decentralized equal opportunity officers. Depending on their assignment, they are either elected by the Faculty Council or appointed by the organizational unit mentioned before.

The Senate is to be informed about the election or the appointment.

Upon request, the work load of the decentralized equal opportunity officers is to be reduced accordingly.
